Driver, 67, Dies Of Injuries From South Jersey DUI Crash: State Police

A 67-year-old driver from Camden County has died of injuries from a head-on crash involving a driver under the influence, authorities said.

Jeffery Koltys, of Runnemede, was exiting Route 55 northbound in Deptford Township, Gloucester County, at the interchange with Route 47/Delsea Drive at 1:48 p.m. on May 2 when the fatal crash occurred, according to a New Jersey State Police spokeswoman.

Koltys' Hyundai collided with a Mustang traveling the wrong way on Exit Ramp 56B, Trooper Brandi Slota said.

Both vehicles traveled off the roadway into the grass area that separates the exit and entrance ramp from Route 47, Slota said.

Koltys was hospitalized and died on Thursday, May 5.

The driver of the Mustang, Robert T. Sherry, 71, of Elk Township, suffered non-life-threatening injuries, she said.

Sherry was charged with driving under the influence, assault by auto and unlawful possession of a weapon.

Sherry faces additional charges.

The investigation is ongoing.
